task 11

I really like the idea of this Halloween costume to glam yourself up on one side and then have a skeleton look on the other side. For the actual outfit aspect of this look you could just wear a black dress from any clothing shop and I would say the look as a whole including the makeup would probably cost £50 but it depends on what brands of makeup you would buy as there are more affordable options.

task 10

The history of makeup is very interesting as they didnt have the products that we have today so they had to make use of whatever they had examples of this is;

Egyptians
Makeup is first traced back to first being used by the Egyptians. The famously known Cleopatra wore lipstick which was produced and got its colour and look from ground up carmine beetles. Another way in which most people created their lipstick was from mixing clay and water.

Romans
As a popular makeup look is rosey cheeks and we can use blusher to achieve this look but as the Romans didnt have blusher they improvised and used wine to give the flushed cheek effect. Here is a example of the Romans

The Middle Ages
Everyone who is pale desires to be tanned but in the Middle Ages the trend that all the women were obsessed with was being pale and some painted their bodys to achieve this and some were so desperate and went as far as allowing themselves to bled just to get the pale look. Here is an example and you can see the pale effect in this picture;

19th and early 20th Century Cosmetics
people experimented with various ingredients to create products some of which were actually harmful such as the mixture of lead and copper used to create a power to apply to the face. Unfortunately this mix of ingredients proved to be toxic and was at fault for the cause of problems including facial tremors, muscle paralysis and in the most severe cases death. After this the started to use Zinc oxide to create the powered face look.

Task 5

One movie i love and the makeup in it is amazing is Avatar as it is very well done character makeup and adds to the effect of the movie as a whloe.

Another movie in which the makeup adds a dramatic effect is the joker from Batman the Dark Knight. The makeup is creepy and catches your eye and makes the character obvious as the bad guy.

The movie IT is a scary movie and the makeup is what makes the movie as it adds to the creepiness.
 The red frizzy wig also adds to the final look.

I also really love the makeup in burlesque as it is elegant and the lipstick brightens up the face.

The makeup done in maleficent is brilliant as it catches the idea of the character and the black contouring that sharpens cheekbones is brilliant

The characters wig is big and over the top and adds the makeup, both creates a excellent look together.

Christina's wig in this scene in burlesque matches and makes the costume as well as the makeup better.

A play that is in the UK which uses wigs is Wicked and the wig adds to the look of the character

Another UK plays that uses wigs throughout it production to add to the character and make them more effective in The Lion King

Task 1

For my first task i was asked to research the meaning of NASMAH which i discovered means the National Association of Screen Make-up Artists and Hairdressers. Also to go through the links available on the page and find one which i found interesting, i then found http://www.gurumakeupemporium.com/ which is a proffesional makeup shop. On this website there are various different beauty products which the shop sells, from skincare products to makeup and hair products.
